Aleksei Saks

Aleksei Saks (1971) studied classical trumpet in Estonian Academy Of Music and Theatre in 1990-1995.

Classical background
In 1990s he was playing mostly classical, baroque and wind orchestra music with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian Police Wind Band, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Brass, Latvian Chamber Orchestra, Hortus Musicus Academic Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica Sextet.

Big band
In period 1998-2008 he was active as a manager and member of Estonian Dream Big Band, collaborating with such jazz music stars as the New York Voices, Frank Foster, Dennis Rowland, Randy Brecker, Elaine Delmar, Ray Anderson, Lew Soloff, Tim Hagans, Petras Vysniauskas, Deborah Brown, Freddy Cole and others.

Producer
His own record on fluegelhorn O Grande Amor (2002) with jazz quartet and string orchestra. Nominated for Estonian Music Awards (2003).
He co-produced with Jüri Leiten 2 albums for Estonian Dream Big Band and 3 albums for legendary estonian foxtrot and swing orchestra Modern Fox.
In 2007-2008 together with guitarist and lecturer Ain Agan he produced unique series of DVD sets Estonian Improvisations where the best Estonian jazz guitar, saxophone and piano players present their own compositions and improvisations. For this project Aleksei Saks and Ain Agan were awarded by Cultural Endowment Of Estonia (2008/2009).

Aleksei Saks owns an MBA degree from Estonian Business School and had been active in various business areas: associate director in Tallinn Philharmonic Society, distributor of ECM Records in Estonia, project manager in advertising company Pult, finance manager at Viljandi Guitar Festival.
